Special workshops

We had invited special guests who lead our workshops. You can donwload the WS presentations in the following links.

The quality dimension in internationalization in higher education institutions plays an increasingly important role. Moving towards deeper cooperation with international partners is the goal of many universities. However, in practice, IROs remain in business as usuall focusing on quantity over quality. The adaptation of quality assurance start to be one of the biggest challenges in internationalization nowadays. MENDELU was part of the Monitoring Internationalization of Czech Higher Education and the results helped it to adjust its practice in the field of internationalization. During the workshop, one of the MICHE evaluators Daniel Casten will present general recommendations that could also work at MENDELU partner universities. We will also shere with partners some of our progress in this area, especially with Louisiana State University.

Special guests: Mgr. Lukáš Kala (MENDELU), Ivana Tregenza (LSU), Sarah Bernard (LSU) and Daniel Casten (MICHE)

The aim of the Strategic Partnerships projects under the Erasmus+ scheme is to develop new partnerships among European universities and foster the current ones. We will share our experience from two successful projects: European Network for Academic Integrity, which was successfully finished in 2019, and „Bridging Integrity in Higher Education, Business and Society.“ The participants of the workshop will be encouraged to share their experience as well to create a constructive discussion in which we can learn from each other.

Special guests: Mgr. Tomáš Foltýnek, Ph.D. (MENDELU) and Ing. Dita Henek Dlabolová, Ph.D. (MENDELU)

The aim of this initiative is to bring together a new generation of creative Europeans able to cooperate across languages, borders and disciplines to address societal challenges and skills shortages faced in Europe.
European Universities are transnational alliances that will become the universities of the future, promoting European values and identity, and revolutionising the quality and competitiveness of European higher education. In order to achieve this major step forward, the Commission is testing different cooperation models for European Universities with two calls for proposals under the Erasmus+ programme.

The 4EU+ European University Alliance has one vision: to create a new quality of cooperation in teaching, education, research and administration. The cooperation is based on a common understanding of the idea of the European university that builds on academic freedom and autonomy and ensures fair access and participation in education.

Special guests: doc. PhDr. Martina Rašticová, Ph.D. (MENDELU) and Mgr. Pavel Senderák, Ph.D. (4EU+)

MENDELU is welcoming hundreds of students yearly and similar number of students from MENDELU spent their semester abroad. Pandemic reduced the numbers but not significantly, but it has definitely changed quality of student life. In what way and how students cope with the new situation will be part of the combined presentation and discussion with speakers from International Relations Offices and Institute of Life Long Learning.

Special guests: Ing. Michaela Menšíková, MSc., Ph.D. (MENDELU)

IW 2020 - International Networking in times of COVID-19

Mendel University in Brno had changed the face to face International Week into an online form in October 2020. We were enormously grateful to host 55 participants from all over the world who had the opportunity to discuss the current topics. The conference generated a lot of ideas about online: Digital international recruiting, Virtual mobilities, Consortium of European universities, New Erasmus+ programme.

Participant testimonial

"I really enjoyed my time during the International week held at Mendel University.  It really looked like the organization of the event was planned accordingly, on a high level. The communication from the organization team was good. The program of the International Week itself was rich on the events like workshops, lectures, field trips, etc. The organization team made sure that every guest felt welcomed.

I think the event provided a great opportunity to strengthen collaboration between Mendel University and KFU and also build relationships with those universities that also participated in the International Week. At the GoAbroad Fair we could learn about each other, exchange university leaflets and business cards.

At the Farewell Dinner we had another chance to learn about each other and enjoy each other's company in a non - formal setting. It was a wonderful time in a beautiful place with great food and atmosphere.

I just want to thank all colleagues at the Mendel University for organizing such a great and useful event. "
