Mendel University in Brno (abbreviated to MENDELU) is a public institution with a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research that has driven new ways of thinking since 1919 and proudly bears the name of J. G. Mendel, the founder of modern genetics.
Faculty of Business and Economics is the largest faculty of Mendel University in Brno. We educate 389 foreign students as of winter semester. True international environment!
Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) at Mendel University in Brno was established in 1959 and is the oldest business school in Moravia. It has accreditation for all degree levels: Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. In recent accreditation the school received the highest rating (ranking in group A) as a one of the best schools from a total of 21 business schools in the Czech Republic.
We are a modern and constantly developing school, which follows trends in education and research. It offers both economic and IT study programs at all three levels of university education in Czech and in English. There are nearly 4,000 applicants on average each year.
There are over 8,300 students at the Mendel University in Brno. Mendel University offers more than 100 different graduate degree programmes in Czech and in English languages. The University comprises one University Institute and five faculties. The university campus is based in Brno, just ten minutes from the city centre. The university provides students with modern well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, and study rooms. A library, canteens and a pizzeria also form part of the campus as well as a large botanic garden and an arboretum, which is a great place to study or relax.
Brno is one of the friendliest cities with excellent accessibility. The city of Brno puts Europe easily within reach but also boasts many attractions of its own. There is an International Airport just 20 minutes from the city centre and other major airports are very close (Prague – 200 km, Vienna – 120 km, Bratislava – 120 km). Theatres offer classical performances and modern productions. Restaurants and pubs feature a range of culinary delights including locally produced Moravian wine and delicious beer.
The Czech Republic is a landlocked country in Central Europe and surrounded by Poland to the north, Slovakia to the east, Austria to the south, and Germany to the west. The Czech Republic is a member state of the European Union (since 2004), NATO and it is a part of the borderless Schengen Area. The population of the Czech Republic is over 10 million people.
The Czech Republic has developed an advanced social market economy and social policies that support a high-income welfare state. Industry plays an increasingly pivotal role in the Czech economy, because it contributes the most to gross value added. The Czech Republic enjoys a temperate continental climate with warm summers and cool winters. It is famous for its excellent beer, fine wine and delicious traditional cuisine.
Participants will enjoy field trips to Prague, Wien, Bratislava, Budapest, Lednice castle and Moravian Karst.
The aim of the module is to develop knowledge and skills in the following areas: leadership, team leadership, social diversity, diversity measurement, team leadership with respect to age and gender of employees, work-life balance. The module also provides space for personal experience and skills training by working on case studies and analyzing good practice examples.
The aim of this module is to analyse these challenges in a broader context and discuss both possible solutions and causes that negatively affect the realization of reforms. The module deals with two main themes: reforms of public finances and social systems in the context of ageing of population and knowledge economy development. Students also acquire a better awareness of Czech, European and world economy.
The aim of the module is to develop knowledge and skills in the following areas: finance, economic policy, European integration, investments or portfolio theory. The module also provides space for personal experience and skills training by working on practical examples of investment opportunities or financial decisions (e.g. stocks and future contracts).
Students gain basic knowledge of the present tourism market, its specifics and trends. At the same time marketing principles applied in tourism industry will be emphasized.
The objectives of this module is to develop knowledge and receive practical experience with analyzing economic data and testing hypotheses about economic reality by means of econometric models.
The module will focus on practical implications and will be based on a discussion of several issues related to social responsibility, sustainability, ethics, multicultural environment and its effect on the company´s and manager´s behavior.
The goal of the module is to provides students’ knowledge about three interconnected topics, important for the successful managerial performance and the source of advantage in a competitive environment. The external influences of Human capital management and development - the understanding people's motivation and the Quality Service strategy.
The module not only provides the principal knowledge but also develops the skill required to set-up and run enterprise entity, determine its financial health and evaluate the financial consequences of a business project.
Students get familiar with the basic principles of Fuzzy-logic, fuzzy-expert systems and their application to decision support.
Students will be presented with brief history of space exploration and the space race. They will be able to describe the principles of creation, execution and consequences of space policy of space powers, to analyze the space policy economic context, and to understand basic astroeconomic models.
The goal of the module is to develop the knowledge and skills on the legal regulation and business practice of European Union internal market during a continuous development of primary and secondary EU law, case law and legal doctrine.
